COLLISION AT SEA
RESCUED SEAMEN DAMAGED VESSEL SINKS (Received February 28, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 27 The master of a coastguard cutter reported that ho was taking the crew of the American freighter Lillian, which collided off New Jersey with the German steamer Wiegand, from that vessel. It is presumed that the captain decided to return to the vessel, which was still afloat at 7 a.m. However, the Lillian sank this afternoon, almost pulling down a tug, tie crew of which had just got a lino aboard. The Lillian's crew were in the coastguard cutter.
