CONTINGENT FROM FRANCE THE REPATRIATION - SCHEME (Received February 2S, 11.20 p.m.) Times Cable LONDON, Feb. 28 The first fruits of the scheme for the repatriation of Italians frqm abroad was the return •of 1400 Italians from France, who were warmly greeted at stations en route,•says the Milan correspondent of the Times. The local authorities defrayed their hotel accommodation and provided the children, with toys and the adults with amusements. The city of Turin has given employment to 43 heads of families, and the remainder will be transported gratis to their home towns. A second batch is expected to-day and a third to-mor-row. IMPORTING LABOUR SHORTAGE IN GERMANY, (Received* February 28, 11.20 p.m.) BERLIN, Feb. 28 To meet the farm labour shortage, totalling 300,000, Germany is employing 200,000 foreigners, mostly Poles and Italians. Fifty thousand nurses are also needed.
