POKENO DROWNING
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST {Ybom oub own correspondent] POKENO, Tuesday > A verdict of accidental drowning was returned by the coroner, Mr. 0. K. Lawrie. J.P.. at the inquest at, Pokeno . yesterday into the death of Gerald .Wallbutton,; aged 32, single, a surveyor's assistant, whose body, clad in swimming costume, was found in the bottom of. a pool in a creek on Mr. C. J. Leathem's property at Pokeno. : Charles William Porteous, a brother-in-law of deceased, said he missed deceased when he did not come for lunch on Saturday as was his custom. He organised a search party yesterday and a member of the party, Mr. P. A. Thompson, recovered the body bv diving. Deceased's clothes and rifle had been found on the edge of the pool. Doceased was unable to swim. The parents of deceased reside at Foxton.
