LABOUR PARTY
WOMEN'S GROUPS MEET A meeting of the women's groups of the Labour Party in Auckland was held on Wednesday afternoon and was addressed by Mr. W. J. Lyon, M.P. for Waitemata. He was accompanied bv Mrs. Lvon, while Mrs. Von Stunner presided. 'Other speakers were Mrs. Wynn, secretary of the Buckland women's branch of the Labour Party, and Miss Lowe, who spoke on junior organisation. Mr. Gannaway, who is in touch with the Canadian Labour movement, also spoke. MOUNT ALBERT BRANCH The inaugural meeting of the Mount Alberjb women's branch of the Labour Party was held on Wednesday. Mrs. F. E. Martin presided. The importance of the branch and the opportunties it will have of ' assisting the Labour Party's -interests was referred to by Mrs. E. S. Griffin. The resignation . of the secretarytreasurer, Mrs. M. Basham, was received with regret, and reference was made to her services in this capacity in the past. Mrs. Basham will still be retained bv the branch as a trustee.
The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. F. F. Martin; vicepresident, Mrs. F. S. Griffin: secretarytreasurer. Mrs. T. 1). Warren; auditor, Mr. F. F. Martin; reporter, Mrs. F. Taylor; trustees, Mrs. Basham and Mrs. Brown; executive, Mrs. Ireland, 3lrs. Holt, Mrs. Mirko, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. McAlpine.
