STOCK SALES

WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS EASING IN DAIRY VALUES EFFECT OF ABSENCE OF RAIN A weakening in the values of dairy cattle was found at the Westfield weekly stock sales yesterday. The demand was indifferent and all classes in the dairy section were affected. There was little competition from tho moderate bench of buyers, and this was due chiefly to seasonal influences. Tho absence of rain is being felt on most pastures, and only essential requirements arc being filled by both farmers and graziers. Springers of good quality showed a depreciation of about '£2 compared with the top prices last week. The best realisation was £8 10s. In the store section there was a brisker tono when boner cattle were offered. Heavy potter bulls were penned in good numbers and up to £lO 7s (3d was paid for the better finished sorts. A fairly large number realised £lO. Tho quotations were as follows: —
