MOLESWORTH BLOCK
RUN FOR SURPLUS SHEEP MERINO BREEDERS' PROPOSAL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] BLENHEIM, Thursday
Concern at the difficulty being experienced in disposing of tho surplus Merino sheep in Marlborough through diminished prices and other reasons was expressed at a meeting of the Marlborough Merino Sheep Breeders' Association.
A proposal was tentatively advanced to use parts of the Moleswortli and Tarndale properties for temporary grazing. A deputation from the association will wait on the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Laugstone, in Wellington next Monday. It was estimated that there were about 5000 sheep in Marlborough concerned. Mr. E. I'. Meachen, M.P., who was present at tho meeting by invitation, explained that as far as he was aware it was tho policy of the Government to allow tho Molesworth and Tarndale properties to rest for the meantime so that they could recuperate. Later Mr. Meachen. communicated with the Minister and was informed that Mr. Langstone would bo pleased to receive the deputation. In the meantime, the Minister stated, the proposals would be very fully investigated.
