MORKINSVILLE GALA WAIKATO BANNER RELAY WIN FOR HAMILTON TEAM f iaiOM OUll OWN CORRESPONDENT] MORRINSVILLE, Sunday Swimmers from all over the South Auckland Centre's district competed at tho Morrinsville Amateur Swimming Club's carnival in tho Morrinsville Municipal Baths last evening. A team of Ponsonby swimmers took part in some of tho handicap events, and also played a water polo match with a Morrinsville team, winning by 5 goals to 1.
The principal event was the Waikato Banner men's relay raco, which resolved itself into a great contest between the Morrinsville and Hamilton teams. Hamilton won by a touch. Entries were so numerous that some of the handicap events had to be run in six heats. Results wero as follows: —

SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS CARNIVAL AT OTAHUHU V Arranged as the opening carnival for the Physical Fitness Week celebration in tho south suburban district, a series of school swimming events held at the King's Collego open-air pool at Middlemore on Saturday was an outstanding success. The contests were organised and conducted by the Otahuhu Swimming Club at the request of tho combined Fitness Week Committee, representing tho boroughs of Otahuhu, Manurewa, Papakura and the Papatoetoe and Manukau County districts. Fourteen schools were represented in the 50 events, tho contestants being spread over a district from Ellersiie and Howick to Drury. The Mayor of Otahuhu, Mr, C. R. Petrie. 11, p., officially opened the programme and expressed appreciation of the activities of the Otahuhu Swimming Club and the generosity of the King's College authorities in making their excellent pool available, not only for the carnival, but for the whole of the present month during the Learn-to-Swim campaign. During the afternoon demonstrations of swimming were given. ... The school championships contested on a points basis excited considerable interest. Ihe Manurewa School won the girls' aggregate with 23 points, Panmur* Primary (12) and Otahuhu District Primary (9) being next in order of merit. The boys' championship was won by Otahuhu Technical High School (24 points), the runners-up being Otahuhu Convent (10) and Otahuhu Primary (8).
