MATCHES AT DOMAIN GREEN LANE'S FINE TOTAL CENTURY TO R. ROBINSON Perfect conditions prevailed at tho Domain on Saturday, when the third series of matches in the second round of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association's senior grade championship was commenced. Tho outfield was fast and there wero several good individual scores. In tho principal game, Green Lane, tho grade leaders, compiled 311 in its first innings against Brixton. A century by It. Robinson was a feature of the play. Manukau, with 107 for tho loss of three wickets, is in a strong position to beat Dilworth Old Boys, which was dismissed for 68 in its first innings. K.V. batted well against Ponsonby and compiled 225 in its first innings.

The highest score of the day was made by R. Robinson, Greea Lane, with 134. Others to bat well were 0. Kerr, Green Lane, 79; A. Cloke, 11.V., 70; T. C. Webster, R.V., 52; E. Pearce, Manukau, 51. The best bowling performance was that of L. Martin, Manukau, who took five wickets for 32 runs. Others to register good figures were:—A. Dunning, Manukau, two for 16; A. Motion, Manukau, two for 18; R. Innes, Ponsonby, three for 31; J. Hetherington, Brixton, six for 101. GOOD PARTNERSHIP SOME RAPID SCORING A good partnership for 161 between Kerr and Robinson was a feature of Green Lane's first innings against Brixton, and the grade leaders compiled 311 runs. The opening pair scored rapidly, especially Robinson, who hit six successive fours on one occasion. Kerr also batted freely, being very effective on the leg side. His score of 79 included six fours. Robinson reached his century in 00 minutes and compiled 134 in 110 minutes. He scored all round the wicket with nice shots. His score included 19 fours. McCormick (21) also batted freely. BOWLERS IN FORM COLTS DISMISSED CHEAPLY The Manukau bowlers were in good form against Dilwortb Old Boys, and dismissed the colts for 68. Gibson, who has been the outstanding batsman for the team this season, was top scorer again with 28. Martin, a spin bowler, was always dangerous. He sent down 11 overs, three of which wero maidens. a"nd took five wickets for 32. He kept a splendid length, and turned the ball well. Dunning and Motion, gave Martin good support. MAKES 225 CONSISTENT ATTACK ' A timely partnership between Webster and Cloko. saved R.V. from a possible low score, and they were the only batsmen to show irood form against the consistent Ponsonby attack. The pair took some timo to settle down and runs came from similes. Cloke was more aggressive after he had scored 30, and carried his total to 70 before being bowled by Innes. He hit four fours. ONEHUNGA FINAL ROVERS AND OLD BUFFERS Bright cricket was witnessed at Waikaraka Park on Saturday, when, in conjunction with the Onehunga Cricket Association's knock-out competition, Onehunga Rovers and Old Buffers contested the final for tho D.C.L. Shield and the 1939 championship. Rovers batted first, B. Wilson (50 not out), T. Collins (45) and K. Ord (34) contributing 129 of a total of 100 runs. When stumps were drawn for the day Old Buffers had compiled 104 lor tho loss of four wickets, frith C. G. Armstrong (54) and A. Birchall (31) unbeaten. With six wickets in hand, Old Buffers require 03 runs to win.

Tho knock-out matches resulted in wins for Fletcher Construction, Athletic, Te Papapa and Hellaby's. Tho most successful batsmen were J. Scholium (Hellaby's}, 05 not out; D. Simpson (Athletic), 54; A. Blockley (Athletic), sa; J. -Willis (To Papapa), 41; and A. George (Te Papapa), 39. The best bowling average was returned by P. Lynch (Te Papapa), who took four of Athletic's wickets for 14 runs and performed the hattrick for the second time this season. Other good averages were seven for 33 by A. Blockley (Athletic), six for 42 by A. Wobber (Lichtenstein's), and five for 33 by T. Power (Hellaby's). Tho Onehunga Association' is co-operating with tho local borough council in the physical fitness campaign and, in addition to being a contestant in the metropolitan cricket division, the management committee has organised athletic events, tho first of which, a 300 yds championship, was run at Waikaraka Park on Saturday. Entries were limited to one representative of each cricket team, and the event was won by C. Williams (Onehunga Rovers), with S. Mclntyre (Lichtenstein's) second and R.
