Turnover was well maintained on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. again moved within narrow margins. Gains slightly outnumbered losses, but most of tho business was done at late rates. » Government loans were firmly steady. Jn banks New Zealands showed some reaction after the rise on tho previous day, but Commercials of Australia were lifted. National Insurances also advanced, with New Zealands active at late rates. The classified issues were quiet. Chain stores dominated tho miscellaneous group. Woolworths. (Sydney) continued to advance in two sales, but the market dropped at the close and more were available cheaper. Woolworths (N.Z.) failed to maintain the recent improvement. G. J. Coles were steady.
