Thursday , , The Whangarei Swimming Club's annual harbour race was held this evening, when there were good entries in both tho junior and' senior sections. The genior event went to P. Fairlev, who fliso recorded tho fastest time. Tho * junior race was won by D. Rechvood, tfho. from lm, beat the scratch competitor for the fastest time by 3-ss. There was a cold wind blowing at tho time 0 { tho races. In spite of tho conditions the time was fast, but fell short of tho record for the courses. Results were as follows: Senior Event, one mile and 1000 yards.—D. Fairley. scr, 1; 11. Fidler, 2V 3 m, 2; C. Bevington, lm. 3; J. Richards. 4m, 4. Time. Som 30s. The North .'Shore Amateur Swimming Club has arranged a varied programme of events for its carnival to be held at the Gilford Pool next Saturday week as a final to the Physical Fitness Week, Swimmers of all classes have been catered for and they have until to-morrow to make their nominations.
