LARGE QUANTITY BURNED ENGINE .AND PLANT DESTROYED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANGANUI, Tuesday Some tar on tho main highway to Wellington, seven miles from Wanganui, caught light yesterday. Fanned by a westerly gale, tho flames spread rapidly, igniting barrels of tar in the vicinity, and they burned fiercely for over two hours. About 50 barrels all ready for tar-sealing work wero destroyed, also an engine and other plant. Traffic was held up by the flames and tho dense smoke screen. The Main Highways Board recently took over this piece of road from the Wanganui County Council.' Considerable damage was done to the road. "
