The successful applicant will be required (a) to undertake visits to libraries throughout New Zealand, giving instruction in library methods and processes, (b) to arrange plans for professional training and ,instruction of library workers through correspondence courses and summer schools, (c) to prepare material for library publicity purposes, (d) and to assist in organising such technical library projects as may be required from time to time. Applicants should have received adequate library training in a recognised library and have qualifications of a standard equal to that of a Fellowship of the Library Association (London) by examination, and possess a sound knowledge and practical experience of library routine and problems of urban and rural library administration.
