AWAPUNI HORSES

TEAM FOR WOODVILLE GALLOP BY WHITE GOLD THE BIGOT WORKING WELL LAUGHING LASS IMPRESSES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday With tho Woodvillo meeting only throe days away and Wanganui next week, there was increased activity at Awapuni this morning, when tho dust was lifted in clouds from tho plough, which was particularly fast.

The only gallop on the course proper was that of Newbury Queen (W. J. Broughton) and Millament (11. B. Ireland), who ran half a mile in 525, tho last three furlongs in 38 3-ss, Newbury Queen held a slight advantage at the finish. Both are engaged at Woodville, Millament being nominated for tho second day. On tho plough Oratory (G. Pratt) covered four furlongs in 525, coming homo very strongly over the last three in 38 2-ss.

The Bigot (W. J. Broughton) galloped a mile in 1.47. Ho ran the first five furlongs in 1.6 3-5 and, joined by tho Fox Earth colt (G. R. Tattersall): at tho entrance to the straight, finished, solidly to complete tho last six furlongs in 1.20 and three in 40 The Bigot is in great heart at present and should strip fit for the Wanganui Cup. Ecstatic Goes Well Laughing Lass (I). Redstone) sprinted five furlongs from a standing start in 1.4 3-5, and was going strongly at tho finish after running the last four in 50s. Sho is always a generous galloper, but she appeared to go even hotter than' usual this morning. ■Vadanoa (Broughton) and Royal Lassie (Chaplin), under a good hold, were timed to run five furlongs in 1.9. Great Legion (Broughton) was not permitted to do much better than even time over seven furlongs. When he has finished growing he may fulfil his early promise.

Ecstatic (Tattersall) went well over four furlongs in 52 2-ss, the last three in better than 395. The two-year-olds, Fanciful (J. Pratt) and Katesbridge (Williamson), were timed to run the last two of four furlongs in 26 3-ss. Tangled and Riotous were out doing useful pace-work. The former is being prepared for liiverton at Easter. La Bru and Chevychase

La Bru (Tattersall) and Chevychase (Ireland) were responsible for a solid half-mile in 525. Chevychase, on the inside, held a slight advantage into the straight and she retained it to the post, although neither appeared to be under pressure. Chevychase is to compete at Woodville on Friday, and she may run well, as she appears to be improving all the time.

Yed Prior. (Broughton) and Thrasos (Anderson) recorded a useful six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, the first three in 39 3-ss.

Caution (W. Jenkins) and Deflation (K. Kanake) finished in front of Moradabad (M. Bowden) at the end of four furlongs in 545, the last three in 39 3-ss. Cuisinier (Tattersall) beat Cuddler .(Jenkins) by two lengths over five furlongs, running the last four in 545. Cuisinier has been working well sinco racing at Pahiatua. Florence Mills (Tattersall) began quietly and she was not required to do her best over five furlongs in 1.6 3-5, covering tho last three in 40 3-os. She should go well at Woodville. Brazil Finishes Solidly Brazil (Broughton) went six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. After a slow beginning, he was going solidly at tho finish and ran tho last three in 395. It was a really good effort. Beaupartir (Ireland) drew away from Taumau (A. McDonald) at the end of seven furlongs in 1.36, but it was just a working gallop. Beaupartir should go well in the Wanganui Cup. Corroboree (Tattersall) and Old Bill (Bowden) covered a mile without being bustled in 1.48 3-5, the last- seven fur-longs-in 1.35. White Gold galloped brilliantly on Saturday and sho, repeated the performance this morning by covering seven furlongs in 1.32 2-5, the first half-milo in 50s. Her public form has been disappointing, but she may. .do better at Woodville.

Useful work was performed by Old Surrey, Golden' Ridge, Bumble and Sudan.
