STOCKS AND SHARES

y- fTHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SLIGHTLY FIRMER TREND Generally steady values ruled in . most sections of the Auckland Stork Exchange yesterday. Although the . n'.ijority of business was put through 'at late rates,, there was a slightly firmer trend. Turnover was fair. Government loans remained stronger. [Although carrying accrued interest of about 20 s, the 1959-52, 4 per cent inscribed stock sold above par. Local body debentures were freely traded. Practically the only movement in banks was a slight firming in New ZeaJands. In insurances South British were active at late rates, while holders of Jsew Zealand* made concessions. Kauri Timber and West port-Stockton Coal both made ground in transfers, but Auckland Gas were slightly easier. ■ The miscellaneous section was quiet, but firm. Australian issues strengthened and British Tobacco and Morts Dock wore lifted. Offers for Australian Glass were raised to £'s l-ls , f ■without attracting sellers. Selected New Zealand manufacturing issues finned.

BRITISH WAR LOAN LONDON. Feb. 13 War loan, per cent, is quoted nt lis 3d, compared with l*s 6d pu February U.
