COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FKANKTON QUOTATIONS HEAVY ENTRY OF SHEEP OX BEEF PRICES IMPROVE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday An extra heavy entry of fat sheep was offered at the weekly stock sale held at Frank ton- to-day, competition throughout being only fair. Prices generally showed a decline. There was a large offering of fat lambs, the majority consisting of unfinished sorts. Prices i'or these showed an easing tendency.

Fat cattle were yarded in smaller numbers than for some time past, the ox beef entry meeting with a very keen demand, values showing an improvement. Cow and heifer beef also created a keen demand, prices advancing slightly on last week's quotations. Store cattle were penned in large numbers, values remaining on a level.with late rates. The yarding of pigs was good, and prices realised were firm at last week's levels, Store and weaner pigs were not in demand and values dropped slightly. Auctioneers quote: —

The speaker said he took more than 10 tons of honey from his hives then, as compared with about three tons this year. The weather in the earlier part of the season was unfavourable for production, being wet and windy, and it was hoped lhat the honey flow would commence later. It.had not, however, with the result that production was. down considerably.
