MFf. E. S. LITTLE'S DEATH 51 YEARS IN FAR EAST A resident of China for 51 years prior to 19138, when he took up permanent residence in New Zealand, Mr. Edward Selby Little died at his home at Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, on Thursday, aged 75 years. Mr. Little was formerly in charge of the activities of Imperial Chemical Industries, Limited, in China, and was for three years Australian trade commissioner there. He had a very wide experience of Chinese affairs and had travelled extensively.

Every summer for 10 years up to 1938 Mr. Little travelled from China to spend some months on his Bay of

Islands property, following his retirement from the position of manager in the Far East for Messrs. Brunner, Mond and Company. He was one of the foundation members of the North Auckland Land Development Company, and took up a large block of land at Iverikeri. Mr. Little's home at Kerikeri is one of the finest in North Auckland, being of unconventional design, and luxuriously furnished with Chinese and other Eastern treasures. Mr. Little is survived by his wife, one son, Mr. E. S. Little, jun., ot China, and one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hawkings, also of China, who is at present visiting Kerikeri.
