The course proper was hard this morning and there were few gallops on it. However, the plough was in good order. G. W. New did not gallop his horses. His next meeting will be Woodville, where L. G. Morris' team will reappear. L. Knapp is taking Pango, who looks well, to Hawera. Mrs. A. W. McDonald has entered Sudan and Bumble and E. W. Watson is taking Lady Ina and Golden Ridge. Sudan raced at Paliiatua and she is improving all the time. To-day Sudan (W. J. Broughton) was galloped seven furlongs with Bumble (Ireland), who finished in front in 1.34 3-5, the last four furlongs in 55 2-ob White Gold (Ireland) went six furiongs easily, the last five in 1.6 2-5. Florence Mills (Bowden) ran half a mile, the last three furlongs in 40 3-ss, and Corroboree (Broughton), having liis lirst fast work sinco tho Wellington meeting, ran five furlongs easiiv in 1.12 2-5. Old Bill (G. R. Tattersall), from a standing start, finished ivell to complete six in 1.22 2-5. Taumau (A. McDonald) strode over fivo furlongs in 1.9 3-5. Brazil (Broughton) beat Thrasos (S. Anderson) over six in 1.21 2-5, tho last threo in 41 2-ss. Old Surrey, who was seriously injured by a fall at Marton, made a very quick recovery, and ho is back on the tracks, looking as well as over he did. Catalogue's injury, sustained when ho brod on a live wiro and fell, is also healing.
