AIRMAN'S COURAGE

CRASH AT ORANGE SPECTATORS AVOIDED SYDNEY, Jan. 31 After Mr. Ernest J. Buck, who was killed at the aerial pageant at Orange yesterday, had had his arm blown off, he ccntrolled his bombing machine sufficiently long to avoid crashing into the crowd. He pulled the aeroplane out of a dive when it was 400 ft. above the onlookers, climbed to 800 ft., and slipped from there into a spin, which caused the machine to crash to the ground 60 yards in front of the screaming crowd. The pilot was killed instantly. The second victim of yesterday's crash at Katoomba was a passenger, Mr. Clarence Edward Stumbler, aged 32. ■>'. ■
