MANUKAU CLUBS COMBINE MYSTERY AND WAIMEA WIN •y v • The combined race of the Manukau Yacht end Motor-Boat and the Manukau Cruising Clubs to French Bay provided a fine spectacle as the 17 yachts crossed the starting linj with all extras drawing in the light northerly breeze. Mystery, Mere and Sunbeam •were together at the start, with the rest bunched, but Sunbeam went into the lead, tintil near -the Horn she was displaced by Mystery. The direction of the wind gave the boats a broad lead to the turning njark off Shag Point and there was little change in the positions of the rest of the fleet. Several boats made the finishing line in one board after turning and Mystery increased her lead. There were several good luffing matches among the others, Foani, Maranui, iAloma and Tainui staging a spectacular contest with only 47s between them. The race started at 2 p.m. The finishing limes were:—Mystery, 3h 10m 12s; Mere, 3h 32m 355; Satanita, 3h 1.5 m 13s; Sirona, 3h 15m 245; Opah, 3h 18m 30s; Ranui, Sh ISm 565; Valrosa, 3h 20m 7s: Topsy, Sh 21m 40s; Wixie M., ,3b 23m 30s; Sunbeam, 3h 24m. 475; Foam, 3h 26m ss; Maranui, 3h 26m 16s; Aloma, 3h 26m 51s; Tainui, 3h 26m- .Arumai, 3h 27m 365; Early Bird, 3h 29m; Ebb Tide, 3b 39m 375. Three motor-boats were despatched in" the following order:—Karma, Waimea. Louana. This order was maintained throughout, with Waimea f holding Karma to the Horn, but gradually dropping back as they went through the Narrows and up the channel to French Bay. The race started at 2.30 p.m. The finishing times were:—Karma, 3h 15m 435; Waimea, Sh 21m Is;,Louana, 3h 39m 355. r A harbour race for the'Z class was staged by the Yacht Club and provided a keen contest. Four boats were sent away, Leone leading Zippa, Valeta and Tamaki. Valeta gradually improved her position to take the lead on completion of the first round. Tamaki passed Zippa and < the pair staged a - good tussle throughout, with Leone dropping astern. . The race started at 2.15 p.m.. The, finishing times were:—Valela, - 3h- 23m 455; Tamaki, " 3h'2Bm 19s; Zippa, 3h.28m 20s; Leone, 3h 29m ' 21s. . The results on corrected times were:— MANUKAU!
