MINERS STOP WORK
DISPUTE AT ROTOWARO DISMISSAL OF TRUCKER SUGGESTION OF CONFERENCE [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HUNTLY, Thursday Following the dismissal of a trucker by the management of Taupiri Coal Mines, Limited, at Rotowaro yesterday, there was no work done at the mine to-day. The trucker, it is alleged, disobeyed orders and used obscene language to a mine official. Subsequently the management ordered his dismissal. The trucker's case was put before the men at a stop-work meeting this morning and the men later decided to return to their homes. It is understood that representatives of the Northern Miners' Union will meet the management this evening, when both sides of the case will be discussed. It is probable that a stop-work meeting will be held in the morning tf. receive the union representatives' report. The trouble is not expected to develop, however, and there is every prospect of the men presenting themselves in time to start work.
