PURCHASE OF LAND
NEW TE AWAMUTU SCHOOL APPROVAL BY GOVERNMENT [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU. Tuesday As the result of a visit to 'le Awainutu a few weeks ago by the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Jjraser, advice has been received that the Cabinet has approved of the purchase of the five frontal sections adjoining the now consolidated school now in the course of erection in lower Alexandra Street.
The school committee some time ago secured an option over the sections, and made representations to the Education Department, as it was felt that if the sections were not acquired, the school would before long become hidden behind other buildings. It is intended to beautify the sections acquired, and utilise them as part of the recreational area of the school.
