STOWAWAY'S STOBY SEA CAPTAIN'S WAGER SUIT OF CLOTHES WON : [from our own correspondent] MELBOURNE, Dec. 21 A stowaway, whose story of mis. fortune was the subject of a wager between Captain Krafft, of the Norwegian motor-ship Tamerlane, and his officers, has learned that it pays to be truthful. Captain Krafft related yesterday that when the stowaway was discovered soon after the vessel left Fremantle, and he demanded an explanation, the stowaway told a depressing tale of consistent misfortune and unemployment. He said that he had stowed away to return to his wife in Melbourne. Tho captain believed the man, and was disposed to be lenient with hiin but the officers of the Tamerlane expressed their doubts to the captain. The captain then wagered a coat against the chief officpr's coat that the man's tale was true.
