CONTRACTOR INJURED CAPSIZE ON .HILLSIDE ACCIDENT AT BIRKDALE Crushed underneath a tractor when it overturned on a hill, Mr. Clifford John Utting, aged 31, contractor, of Wairoa Avenue, Birkenhead, suffered broken ribs and a fractured collarbone when working on a property at liirkdale last evening. In order to remedy a fault which had developed in the machine, Mr. Utting was standing behind the tractor when it capsized on top of him. With the driver underneath, the tractor rolled some distance down the hillside before coming to rest against several trees and a fence. The accident was not seen, and Mr. Utting staggered across the paddock for 200 yards and collapsed upon reaching the nearest house. He was aitended by Dr. K. H. Holdgate, of Birkenhead, and was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition is not regarded as serious.
