CRASH THROUGH IRON ROOF ACCIDENT AT NEW LYNN ' Falling 40ft. from the top of ar chimney at the Steel Construction Company's works. Portage Road, New Lynn, yesterday Mr. Louis Charles C'iiaillet, married, aged 31, of Bank Street, Mount Wellington, suffered serious injuries. Mr; Chaillet was working on the chimney. He fell 30ft. on to the sheet iron roof of a building, through which he crashed and fell a farther lOlt. to the ground. Ho struck his head on a girder of the building. The injured man was attended by Dr. E. G. Loten, of Avondale, and was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition last night was considered serious. MOTOR-CYCLIST DIES BURSTING OF A TYRE MACHINE RUNS OVER BANK [by telegraph—own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday The death occurred in the Waikato Hospital to-night of Mr. Henry Albert Williams, aged 35, single, an employee of the Matamata County Council, who suffered a fractured skull when, following the bursting of a tyre, his motor-cycle ran over a bank at Tirau on Saturday night. A Maori who was a pillion rider on the machine at the time of the accident escaped injury.
THREE INJURED BOY STRUCK BY CAR MOTOR-CYCLE IN COLLISION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] ASHBURTON, Wednesday Three patients are in hospital in a serious condition as the result of motor accidents. One is Desmond Withell, aged six. son of .Mr. and Mrs. R. J. K. Withell, of Ashbnrton, who was run over by a car on emerging from the rear of another vehicle. He sustained abdominal injuries and also an injury to iiis head. The other victims are Mr. Norman Shannon, aged 20, and Mr. Alan Benjamin Richards, aged 18, both of Rakaia. who were injured when their motor-cycle collided with a car near Rakaia. , , . Mr. Shannon suflcred a broken leg and abrasions and concussion, and Mr. Richards suffered concussion. It was reported this evening that Withell's condition was serious. OAR ROLLS DOWN BANK MAORI WOMAN AND SON SUFFER [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] GISBORNE, Wednesday A Maori woman, Mrs. Herewini Ngaronoa, aged 23, and her son Edward, aged six. were seriously injured when a car driven by her husband ran hack off the road over Takapau Hill, at Te Puia. Both mother and son were admitted to the Te Puia Hospital. There were five people in the car at the time of the accident. The vehicle overturned twice before coming to rest down the bank. * PEDESTRIAN SEVERELY HURT PILLION RIDER UNCONSCIOUS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HOKITIKA; Wednesday Struck by a motor-cycle at 11.20 last nigiit, Mr." Charles Leslie Harman suffered serious injuries to his head and his spine, which was paralysed. A pillion rider oil the cycle. Miss Henderson, was picked up unconscious suffering from head injuries. Mr. Harman's condition is serious, but Miss Henderson's is satisfactory. / The identity of the rider of the cycle lias not been definitely established. Mrs. Harman, who was walking with her husband, suffered slight injury.
