TO-DAY'S ATTRACTIONS

RACING AT ELLERSLIE GAMES AND EXCURSIONS Given a continuation of fine weather Auckland sporting enthusiasts will be out in full force to-day to attend the large variety of attractions that have been arranged. A large proportion of the sporting population will undoubtedly be at Ellerslie' this afternoon, when the summer .meeting of the Auckland Racing Club will be continued. Good fields are engaged and every event promises an interesting tussle. Many cricket matches are Set down for decision in Auckland to-day. The annual Country Week tournament will be continued on the Domain, while the Auckland provincial tourney will be advanced a further stage at Eden Park. A match will be commenced between the Wellington Brabin Cup representatives and a team representing the Auckland suburban, junior players. Section play in the Auckland Bowling Centre s annual Christmas tournament will be completed to-day, and post-section play will be commenced tomorrow. The annual handicap tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association will be continued at the Stanley Streets courts to-day, and the New Zealand Catholic tennis chamJiioriships will also be continued at the iemuera courts. Sports events are not the sole attraction. Excursion steamers will leave in the morning for Waiheke and Kawau, and these trips are bound to prove popular. Cheltenham Beach will be the scene of further celebrations today and to-night, in connection with the 10 days' carnival, and a baby show will be held at the beach in the afternoon, when children's sports will also be decided A treasure hunt will take place on the beach, and there will be a sand-castle building competition. In the evening dancing will be held in the open-air cabaret.
