LEAN TIME IN CHINA
FOREIGN COMMUNITIES FLOOD OF JEWISH REFUGEES (Received December 26, 5.5 p.m.) - SHANGHAI, Dec. 25 The foreign communities throughout China had a lean Christmas. Food is scarce and the atmosphere everywhere is unsettling. A further 562 Jewish refugees have arrived from Europe, many of them penniless, and thousands more are expected. Only a tenth of them have so far found work and the remainder are in danger of starvation owing to local resources already being overtaxed by the Chinese refugee problem.
