NEW CABARET
BUCKLAND'S BEACH OFFICIAL OPENING A pleasant rendezvous for Auckland's dancing enthusiasts is the Chez' Paree Cabaret at Buckland's Beach, which was officially opened last night by Air. C. R. Petrie, AI.P. for Otahuhu. Tho cabaret i,s delightfully situated on the shore of the Taniaki Estuary. The interior is finished in soft green and pink tonings, and the chromium lit ted cubicles are upholstered in fawn and henna velvet. Concealed lighting in softly diffused shades of blue and rose, a large open fireplace and harmonising carpets, add greatly to tho comfort and general effect of the ballroom. In congratulating tho management on its enterprise and initiative, Air. Petrie said that with the co-operation of the people of the district, he felt sure the cabaret would provide bright and wholesome entertainment for all. Spirited music by the Auckland Artillery Band under the leadership of Captain G. Buckley gave a carnival spirit to the opening, while excellent music for the dancing was played by the Silvertone Band, conducted by Air. Norman Crowder. The official party comprised:—Tho hostess, Airs. J. W. Cowley, wearing a frock of cream satin with silver and pearl embroideries; the manageress, Airs. 0. Carnachan, in black craquelle; AI is* Susa.ll Cowley, turquoise blue lace; Aliss IMiyllis Petrie, black ring velvet; Miss. C. Petrie, gold taffetas; Miss Nancy Turner, briar rose taffetas.
