NARROW PRICE MOVEMENTS (Received December 21, 0 p.m.) SYDNEY. Dec. 21 Investment business was very qniot on the Stock Exchange to-day. Price movements were within narrow limits. A good demand exists for Australian Glass shares, which moved to the record level of £o 6s 6d. Commonwealth loans were firm. The Exchange will ' close at 1 p.m. to-morrow for the holi- ' days. The surplus of earnings after deducting current expenditure for the half-year was 9,721,992 yen, out of which depreciation of fleet and buildings absorbed 4,132,172 yen, insurance fund 215,379 yen, ships' structural repair fund 1,087,932 yen, leaving a balance of 7,078,246 yen, including 2,791,738 yen brought in. The directors propose an unchanged dividend of 6 per cent for tho halfyear, requiring 2,695,820 yen. A sum of 1,750,000 yen is to be placed to reserves and 2,632,426 yen carried forward. GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON LONDON, Dec. 20 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £7 8s 10d an oz., compared with £7 8s 8d yesterday. Silver is quoted at 20Jd an 07. spot, and 19Jd forward, compared with 20jd and 19 9-16tl yesterday. The quotation for silver at per fine oz. is 21 1146 d, same as yesterday. • BRITISH WAR LOAN A FURTHER WEAKENING British Wireless LONDON, Dec. 20 War loan, 3$ per cent, is quoted at £97 10s, compared, with £97 16s 3d yesterday. WALL STREET BUSINESS NEW YORK, Dec. 20 The turnover on the New York Stock Exchange to-day totalled 940,000 shares.
