X-RAY EQUIPMENT
NEW PLYMOUTH EXTENSIONS £SOOO SCHEME APPROVED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NEW FLYMOUTH. Wednesday Building extensions to the X-ray department of the New Plymouth Hospital and the provision of the necessary equipment to bring the diagnostic plant up to modern requirements, at a cost of £SOOO, are to be proceeded with as soon as possible. At a meeting of the Taranaki Hospital Board yesterday the urgent need for the neft' equipment and building was stressed by Dr. A. G. S. Cooper, radiologist, and the board decided that provision for the work he made in the 1939-1940 estimates, the Work to be done as soon as possible. Dr. Cooper listed seven items of apparatus for the X-ray department which were bare essentials urgently necqssary. Ho estimated these to cost £2OBO. A second list of desirable apparatus to make the equipment fully up to date showed an estimated expenditure of £lO-50. The architect's estimate of the cost of buildinc extensions was £1760. The board approved :i 1! three sets of expenditure, the total estimated cost being £489().
