JAPANESE WORRIED
CAMPAIGN IN CHINA BRITISH GENERAL'S VIEW TRIBUTE TO MARSHAL CHIANG (Received December 15, 5.5 p.m.) SINGAPORE, Dec. 14 "Japan's army commanders are worried men," said Major-General A. W. Bartholomew, general officer commanding the British forces in China, who is going to England.
MAJOR-GEN. A. W. BARTHOLOMEW "If Marshal Chiang Kai-shek continues to draw the Japaneso armies inland, they will find it increasingly difficult to maintain their communications," said General Bartholomew. "Japan cannot afford indefinitely to keep a large standing army in China. Japan will never win while Chiang Kai-shek is at the head of the Chinese Government."
