TREES DESTROYED

MOUNT MAUNGANUI DOMAIN PROTEST BY RESIDENTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Thursday Indignation has been expressed by a number of residents at the destruction of some of tho karaka trees on Mount Maunganui by the Town Board. The trees were removed in the process of road works. On behalf of tho residents, the following telegram was sent to the Minister of Lands, tho Hon. F. Langstono, to-day:—"Residents of Mount Maunganui emphatically protest against the wanton destruction of irreplacablo karaka trees in the Mount Maunganui Domain by the Town Board, to whom it is proposed to hand over the domain. We strongly urge you to do all possible in your power to-day to prevent this unjustified action by tho board."
