ARTILLERY AWARDS
THE IST FIELD BRIGADE EFFICIENCY DURING YEAR The annual prize-giving ceremony of the Ist Field Brigade, New Zealand Artillery, held at the Ponsonby Drill Hall, attracted a large attendance. The parade was commanded by Lieut.Colonel F. 0. Soar, and was inspected by the officer commanding the northern military district, Colonel 0. H. Mead, D.5.0., who presented the prizes and later addressed the men. Musical items were given by the band of the Heciment of Artillery. The prizes were awarded for efficiency in duties during the year, and consisted of shields, silver cups and engraved shell cases. The following awards were made: —• Efficiency Cup. for most efficient battor.v.— 4th Field Battery. Harry Goldie Cup. most efficient battery staff.—3rd Field Batter*. -Ith Field Battery Trophies.—Vaso for best sub-section: Battery staff (Sergeant Cahill). Most efficient signaller: Lance-Ser-geant N. R. "Wright. Most improved signaller: Gunner A. M. Stanton. Most improved recruit: Gunner T. M. Hail. Most improved K.C.0.: Lancc-Bombardier W. S. Bent. Most efficient gunner: Gunner G. D. Connell. Best attender: Sergeant N. B. Gibson. 3rd Field Battery Trophies.—Shield for best sub-section: B Sub-section (Sergeant S. A. Amies). Most improved signaller: Gunner K M. Greenwood. Most improved A.C.0.: Bombardier R. \V. Lovett. Best recruit: Gunner N. Blackinan. Best fuse setter: Gunner T. H. Freeman.
