PUBLIC QUESTIONS
NEED FOR MEN OF COURAGE ADDRESS TO ROTARIANS [FROM OUR OWN CORRKSPONDKNT] HAMILTON, Wednesday "In this perplexing world there is a danger of the individual abdicating completely," said Mr. 1). M. Rae, principal of the Auckland Teachers' Training College, when addressing a forum of Rotarians in Hamilton tonight on "Tho Responsibilities of the Individual Rotarian in a Changing World." "We are so beset by the ominous weight of world movements in politics, international rivalries and economic cycles that we feel that we are unimportant as individuals, and can exert no influence on events. This is a counsel of despair and is foreign to tho spirit that has made Western civilisation." Tho speaker said there was a great need everywhere to-day for men of courage who were not bound by fear of criticism or of unpopularity, but who would look the Situation in the face and then take a stand for what in that individual's considered judgment, was right. Representatives of the Auckland, Rotorua and Hamilton Rotary Clubs were present at the meeting, which was presided over by Mr. A. M. Bisley, president of the Hamilton club. Later Mr. W. E. Lewisham, president of the Auckland club, presided.
