DOMINION SELECTOR COUNCIL'S FIRM STAND AUCKLAND DISSATISFIED FURTHER RESOLUTION PASSED Advice received from the Dominion Council that it had considered the protest regarding the choice of Mr. T. C. Lowry as sole New Zealand selector and that it had unanimously decided to confirm the appointment aroused I considerable discussion at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association. The discussion was taken in committee, after which the following resolution was carried: — "That the letter should be acknowledged and that the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council should be requested that before a similar appointment is mudo next year an opportunity should be given to have the matter discussed at the next annual meeting." Appointments of umpires for Plunket Shield games during the present season were advised bv the New Zealand Cbuncil. For the Otago-Auckland game to be played at Dunedin on December 31, January 2, 3 and 4, Messrs. L. Diehl and G. McDonald were appointed, while Messrs. T. W. Burgess and J. Young will officiate in - the Auckland-Can-terbury fixture set down for decision at Christchurch on December 24, 26, 27 and 28. Reporting for the country committee, Mr.. L. B. Schnauer stated that arrangements were well in hand for the provincial and Christmas tourneys to be held in Auckland. The Taranaki Association wrote regretting its inability to compete in the Auckland provincial tourney. Taranaki stated that it would be engaged in an elimination Hawke Cup fixture early in January, and, if a team were sent, it would be of fairly poor calibre. .... The University Club's application for permission to make a tour of the north during the holiday period was granted. The club stated that the team would be under the managership of Mr. W. Lange and would play games at Maungakaramea, Kenkeri and Kaikohe. . The South Auckland Association notified that at a recent meeting a decision had been made to change the name of the body to the Waikato Cricket Association. Mr. H. E. Warneford was appointed the association's delegate on the committee of the Auckland Boys' Cricket Association m place of Mr. H. Duncan. Appreciation was expressed of an oner made by umpires from the Suburban Association to assist in controlling games during the holiday tournaments. Advice was received from the secondary schools' committee that it was agreeable to a college representative eleven playing Mr. H. Watson's colts at Eden Park on December 24. It was decided to arrange the same. . . . The following times of play were fixed for the one-day series of games to be played next Saturday:—First and senior B grades, 1.30 p.m. to 3.53 p.m., 4.7 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.; second and intermediate grades, 2 p.m. to 4.10 p.m., 4.20 p.m. to 6-30 p.m. - The committee decided to extend an invitation to the Canterbury Association tor its junior representative side to meet the Auckland Brabin Cup team at Auckland on December 29 and 30. Rotorua, which had lost seven wick,its for 10 runs at stumps yesterday, in reply to Hamilton's first innings score of 145. was dismissed for 64 runs. J. Nelson maintained an excellent length for Hamilton to take six wickets for 12 runs W. J. McKenzie. two for 14, also bowled well. Hamilton had lost four wickets for 99 runs in its second innings. when the match was abandoned owing to rain. .The principal scorers in Hamilton's second innings were W. J. McKenzie 27, J. Nelson 22, J. Belcher 21 not out. Hamilton won by 81 runs on the first innings.
