SKILFUL DRIVING
THE DUKE OF KENT an accident averted - LONDON. Dec. 1 Tho Duko of Kent narrowly escaped a serious accident when driving his car along the Great West Road to London this week. The Duke was attempting to avoid a lorry which appeared from a side turning. He swerved violently, causing tho car to skid. He pulled up to await Lord and Lady Herbert Scott, who were following in another car and who saw the incident. The Daily Telegraph states: "Lord Herbert Scott, who is tho Duchess of Gloucester's uncle, got out and spoke to tho Duke. After a few minutes tho Duko started tho car again." Tho Daily Sketch says: "Tho Duko skidded clear of the lorry while travelling at 70 miles an hour, Palo and shakefi, he pulled up at tho kerb." Lord Scott, when interviewed, said: "Nino out of 10 drivers would have had a ghastly crash. The Duke's decisive swerve was a .piece of magnificent driving." , One of the Duke's favourite hobbies is driving fast cars. x
