A SHEEP ASTRAY
EPISODE IN THE CITY SHOCKS FOR MOTORISTS DIFFICULT CAPTURE MADE Three members of the staff of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals had a strenuous and exciting experience yesterday afternoon when they were called upon to capture a young wether whipli had strayed into Albert Street. Early in the afternoon the animal had been seen near the Western Wharf and about two hours later it created something of a traffic jam in Albert Street. Frightened by the traffic, the sheep careered about the street, causing astonished motorists to swerve violently as they came upon it unexpectedly. Officers of the society who had been called to the scene found some difficulty in cornering the animal and their efforts provided a diversion for spectators, numbers of whom watched the chase from the windows of business premises. The sheep was taken to the society's headquarters, where it was fed and cared for.
