DOMINION CONFERENCE 1 DIFFICULTIES OF THE TRADE [BT TELEGILiPH —PPESS ASSOCIATION] "WANGAXtn, Tuesday The annual conference of tha New Zealand Master Butchers' Association opened to-day, 22 delegates attending. . The president, Mr. J. F. Carter, presided. Delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. W J. Rogers. The president's report referred to the hard work of the association during the year and the difficult period experienced by the trade because of unfair competition in some districts more than others. Matters of interest dealt with included competition by freezing companies, who retailed meat to the public at prices much below those which butchers had to charge and the serious problem butchers had to face, particularly in the Waikato, by inroadl made in stock by facial eczema.
