SHOOTING MISHAP

ACCIDENT WITH SHOTGUN MAN STRUCK IN THIGH CONDITION NOT SERIOUS Struck in the right thigh with pellets from a shotgun, which accidentally discharged at 20 yards range during rabbit shooting at Ararimu on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Colin George Bafferty, aged 23, single, a storeman, of 77 Quadrant Road, Onehunga, suffered a painful injury which necessitated his removal to the Auckland Hospital. Accompanied by friends, Mr. Bafferty journeyed to Ararimu by car and he took with him a single-barrel shotgun. Later lie handed it to a friend, who was holding the gun when it accidentally discharged, portion of the charge entering Mr. Kafferty's thigh. The injured man was taken to Dr. W. H. Young, of Papakura, and, after receiving treatment was brought to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last night was reported to bo not serious.
