DEBATING CONTEST

In tho final round of the Athenaeum Cup debating contest held last night in the Chamber of Commorce Hall, the University Catholic Club defeated the Junior Chamber of Commerce on the motion "That It Is Possible to Insulato New Zealand's Economy Against tho Effects of a Depression." The affirmative was taken by tlie Catholic Club, which gained 205 marks, and the negative by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. 152 marks; The debate was judged by Mr. Julius Hogben und the chairman was Mr. J. C. fteid. MessrS. It. C. Cotter-all, D. J. Flynn and E. J. Keating represented tho Catholic Club, while Messrs. D. J. Stotter, R.' S. Harrop and W. Clark spoke for tho junior chamber.
