ARMY OFFICER'S DEATH

LONG MILITARY SERVICE (Received November 25, 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Nov. 24 The death is announced of Lieut-enant-General Sir Basil Ferguson Burret-Hitchcock, He was 61 years of age. Lie u ten ant-Gen era 1 B urrett-Hitoh-cock entered the Army in 1897 and, served in the South African War. Ha also served in. the Great War from 1914 to 1918, and in the latter year was Director-General of mobilisation. From 1921 to 1925 he was in charge of the administration of the Aldershot Command, and later commanded the 55th Division and the 4th Indian Division. He was promoted to LieutenantGeneral in 1930 and retired in 1933. :
