OBITUARY

MISS CARRIE PATERSON The death has occurred of Miss Carrie Paterson, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Rev. George Paterson. formerly minister of St. James' Presbyterian Church, Auckland. Arriving in New Zealand in 1921, Miss Paterson completed her education at St. Cuthbert's College. From that time on hor main interests lay with the missionary and social service activities of the Presbyterian Church. As organist of St. James' for some years and secretary of the Girls' Auxiliary, besides acting as accompanist at innumerable church functions, Miss Paterson led a full and active life until illness developed some months ago and caused her death at the early ago of 31. MR. A. W. REID' [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN" CORRESPONDENT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday The death has occurred at Stratford of Mr. A. W. Reid, aged 83; who was closely connected with the dairy industry for nearly 60 years. Mr. Reid was* also ft prime mover in the establishment of the electric-power scheme at Stratford. He was born at Glasgow and camp to» New Zealand at. the ago of seven. He farmed' a bush section at Ngaere and initiated the packing company which was the forerunner of the present dairy factories with immediate successful results. A skilled engineer, he built three steam cars and later turned his attention to motor caravans as a hobby. He is survived by Mrs. Reid, six sent, and one daughter.
