GIFT TO THE BOROUGH MINISTER'S COMMENDATION [BY telegraph—own correspondent] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The handing over Inst week to the Devon port Borough Council of 69 acres of land forming for many years the racecourse Aucklnnd, was described by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E, Parry, sls a. fine gift to the people and One showing n public-spiritedness on part of tho Takapuna Jockey Club which should meet with well-merited appreciation. . . "In these days wh«n local bodies are finding difficulty in meeting the demand for adequato recreation areas for the people, the splendid gift provides a notable example of a way in which real help can be given in relieving the pressure," said the Minister. ''lt is a laudable and well-conceived kim of the club's bequest that tho land of the gift be kept intact for the enjoyment and recreation of the people."
