WHENUAPAI AIR BASE
NEW ROADS PLANNED Plans in connection with the alterations to the roads in the Whenuapai area necessitated by the establishment of the air base there w§re received at yesterdav's meeting of the Waitemata County Council. Under the scheme four miles of roads are to be closed and replaced by two miles and 30 chains of new roads. New roads beyond the eastern portion of the flying field, along the western side, and beyond the southern limits, the last to preserve the continuity of highways between Hobsonville and Kumeu, are provided for in the new arrangement. The necessary construction and metalling are to bo carried out by the Government.
