SOUTHERN TOUR CHOICE OF MANAGER MR. E. E. NALDER APPOINTED GAME WITH SOUTH CANTERBURY A tribute to the services rendered to cricket in the province by Mr. E. E. Nakler was paid at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association, when consideration was being given to the appointment of a manager of the Plunket Shield side on its southern tour. Mr. P. Shaw, in favouring Mr. Nalder's appointment, said that the latter had been associated with the committee for 22 years, and during that time had travelled only once with a Plunket Shield side. There were no other nominations and Mr. Nalder was appointed to the position. . The chairman, Mr. W. R. Fee, reported that the emergency committee had given consideration to\ the proposed match between the Auckland touring team and South Canterbury at Timaru. He recommended that' tho gamo shcukl bo played in between the Canterbury and Otago Plunket Shield fixtures, providing suitable arrangements regarding accommodation could be made for the Auckland sido. The emergency committee's report was confirmed. , The Wellington Association confirmed February 3, -1, 6 and 7 as the dates for its Plunket Shield fixture with Auckland at Eden Park. Advice was received tha f . arrangements in connection with the annual Y.M.C.A. sports dinner would be discussed at a preliminary meeting of representatives of sports bodies and that the date of tho function had tentatively been fixed for December 7. In notifying that it had agreed to affiliate with the association, the Auckland City and Suburban Association expressed its appreciation of the pleasant relationship existing between the two bodies and its confidence that the same spirit of co-operation would continue in the future. It was decided to nccept the affiliation and to advise tho Suburban Association that its good feelings were rociprocated. Tho theft of clothing, money and other valuables at Victoria Park was reported by tho junior committee's delegate, Mr. A. F. Winks. It was decided to bring the matter to the notice of tho City Council and to request that an effort should be made to provide some supervision of the dressing rooms during tho progress of matches. Mr. It. Blennerhassett intimated that 39 umpires were available at present. Applications for Mr. F. W. Matthews' bat for the first century of the season were considered, and it was agreed to award the trophy to J. 11. Johnson, of the PonsonbyBalmoral senior team. A suggestion by Mr. Shaw that a scries of one-day matches should bo played on December 17 was approved. It was resolved to play all four first grade matches at Eden Park next Saturday. The following transfers were approved:— E. W. Bundock, Flexile to Technical Old Boys, W. Snedden, Eden to University. Mr. L. B. Schnauer paid a tribute to the fine condition of the outfield and the wickets on the Papatoetoe ground. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the Papatoetoo Town Board, with the request that tho association's thanks should be conveyed to the groundsman.
