Nov. 13 The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem has offered to call off the Palestine rebellion if he is invited to the London conference, according to a report from the Beirut correspondent of the Daily Herald. He said# he was considerably pleased that
the partition proposals ha<l been! dropped, and added that the London talks might succeed "if the Arabs are justly represented." The Palestime Defence Committee has issued a manifesto threatening n. general Arab insurrection if the Wicodhead Commission's report on is implemented, and adding that Britain and the Arabs alone must, se'ttle the dispute. The Jews and the Lciague of '; Nations are not qualified to interfere. 1 ' The president of the Zionist I Federation, Doctor Ohaim Weizmaniii, open-* ing a meeting of the general council cf the Federation, said that thee Woodhead Commission's report showed little understanding of the Jewish tragedy. The anti-Jewish forces had failed in their attempt to deviate Britain from the policy of the Balfour declaration and her mandate. The task of Jewry was to achieve the fulfilment of British promises and the realisation of Jewish rights in Palestine. The High Commissioner, Siti Harold Mac Michael, reports that an aeroplane made a forced landing near'; Nablus during an engagement with the rebels. The pilot was injured. There has been some recrudescence of sniping;, bombing and sabotage. i' , A message from Jerusalem states that a suspected Arab bomb factory blew up, killing the five inmates.
