MOVING 20 HOUSES

ONERAHI AERODROME SITE SIX ALREADY TRANSFERRED ONE OCCUPIED DURING SHIFT [from our own correspondent] WHANGAEEI, Sunday The Public Works Department is proceeding steadily with removal of houses on the land that is being prepared for an aerodrome at Onerahi. About 20 buildings are affected, and of these six •were moved and re-erected during the past month on other sections in the township. v : While the buildings are being moved the occupants temporarily evacuate their home and all the furniture and loose fittings are removed. The building is then placed on skids and transported to its new location. In the case of one small house, only the chimney was taken down, the furniture was left in position, and the occupants remained in their home during the shift. The work commenced early one morning, and by the same evening the house was on its new site.
