DAWN PARADE
> j ANZAC DAY CEREMONY I AUSTRALIAN EX-SERVICEMEN I , j LORD GALWAY TO TAKE PART 'i Members of the Australian Imperial Force Ex-Servicemen's Association resident in Auckland have been invited by the Auckland branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association to organise a dawn service parade to be held in the city next Anzac Day. This announcement was made by the president of the Australian association, Mr. E. P. Titchener, at its second annual reunion held on Saturday night. Mr. Titchener said the parade would be led by the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who would pronounce the Anzac dedication. The Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, a number of other Ministers of the Crown and members of Parliament, the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, and local body representatives would also be present. The dawn service., Mr. Titchener added, would be repeated in future years and in 1940 would be attended by Australian returned soldiers visiting New Zealand for the Centennial. "From information received recently," | he said, "there will be some thousands of diggers visiting New Zealand; in fact, it seems that the numbers will be limited only by the steamers available to transport them to New Zealand.'' Mr. Titchener said Mr. R. C. Johnson would be in charge of the trumpeters and drummers taking part in the service. Another trumpeter would be Mr. E. Fraser. In 1916 Trumpeter Johnson, of the New Zealand Engineers, and Bugler Eraser, of the Auckland Regiment, took part in the first anniversary of Anzac Day commemorated in Westminster Abbey, London.
