Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday, when a fair volume of business was transacted in spite of .tho fact that the Christchurch market has been restricted owing to holidays. Generally a firm tone was maintained, although there was some shading in isolated cases. Bank and insurance shares were again in steady request. Bank of New Zealands advanced 2d on sale, reaching 425, a recovery of Is 6d since tho lowest point of the year was touched alter tho election. 01 : the leading Australian issues British Tobaccos were secured a shade easier, but Australian Glass, Colonial Sugar and Electrolytic Zinc shares remained very firm.
