A SLIGHT DECREASE FIGURES FOR NINE TOTAL VALUE OF £4,527,000' MAJOR SHARE FROM BRITAIN Proof that the motor industry in New Zealand continues to enjoy substantial trade, although scarcely up to the standard of that experienced last year, is shown in statistics for the nine months ended September 30, which were issued by the Customs Department yesterday. During the period reviewed the value of motor vehicles imported into the Dominion totalled £4,526,913, as compared with £4,586,875 for the same months of last year. The total number of vehicles imported from all sources, including those assembled, unassembled or completely knocked down, was 28,288, as against 29,093 during the corresponding period of last year. There were 23,849 motorcars and 4439 commercial vehicles, the totals a year ago being 23,968 and 5125, respectively. 2649 Oars a Month Imports of cars averaged 2649 a month. The total valuation of imports was -£3,752,021, which showed a slight increase over last year's figure of £3,739,571. Britain claimed the major share, with 14,503 cars, valued at £2,293,585. Canada provided 6893 cars, costing £1,061,626, an increase on the imports* from Canada in the previous year, when 6409 cars, valued at £977,032, were bought. Importations from America totalled 2352 cars, worth £386,502, which was almost half the number compared with the same period of last year. Commercial Vehicles Commercial vehicles imported this year so far were valued for the purpose of assessing duty at £774,892, compared with £847,304 last year, lhe chief supplier was Canada, whose share or the total imports was estimated at £328,857. British imports in this section totalled £281,235 and American £164,800. Other suppliers were Germany, France, Italy and Australia. Auckland in nine months imported 3924 vehicles, valued; at £642,859, compared with £674,353 in nine months hist year. There were 3308 cars, costing '£521,689. _______
