AVONDALE CLUB

NOVEMBER MEETING WEIGHTS FOR FIRST DAY, THE KING GEORGE HANDICAP MASTER BRIERLY HEADS LIST The following weights for tho first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Second Spring Meeting, to ho held on November 12 and 14, have been declared by Mr. F. J. McManemin:—

TRIALS AT HASTINGS SUNOLA SHADES ARACHNE IMOGEN SPRINTS WITH KOBI [by telegraph—own correspondent] HASTINGS. Saturday Considering that the Napier Park , Racing Club's meeting will be held at Greenmeadows next Saturday, there was not a great deal of activity on the Hastings tracks to-day. The absence of many horsemen at outside meetings probably * prevented some 1 trainers galloping their charges. After Friday's rain, the tracks were in excellent order, although slightly dead, Blue Shirt, who has not raced for' some time, was given a working gallop over half a mile in 565. First Chapter ran three furlongs comfortably in 40s. Uuka registered 54s for half a mile. Red Cockade, who has improved since given a course of schooling, moved well in company. Boat Song was timed to run the last six of seven furlongs in 1.21. There was little to choose between Kalika and Classical over five furlongs in 1.7. Classical is likely to be an early winner in the maiden class.

Charles Hugo Improved Charles Hugo, one of the most improved maidens at Hastings, was just ahead of Wilful Lady at the end of half a mile in 51s. However, Wilful Lady was going the stronger. The juveniles Arachne and Sunola were associated over three furlongs in 39 £s. Sunola was very wide out and not fully extended. He will be bracketed with Endorsement on Saturday, thus making a strong combination.

Trailer shaded Elettra over six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Elettra improved, but the best may not be seen of her . until she is raced over a middle distance. Buster Brown and lloyal Minstrel were well clear of Pladie at the end of seven furlongs in 1.32, running „ the last six in 1.19. Royal Minstrel considerably improved after his two :* races 'at "Trentham, appears nicely placed with 7.12 in the Park Stakes on Saturday, as he had 9.0 in the same event last year. Smart Three .Furlongs Imogen never went boater than when she easily defeated liobi over three furlongs in 395. Kobi wa.s disappointing, as he came from Woodville with a reputation. * The Ring and Hunting Moments, hard held, recorded 54s for half a mile. The former is on the upgrade. Laggard, who makes a noise, took I.JJB for seven furlongs.

Ivar, who was under a good hold, reeled off four furlongs in 565. Jazz Boy, having his first run along since a short spell, ran five furlongs in 1.10. Nelumbo went three furlongs easily in 425. Endorsement was too good for Flying Flag .over three furlongs in 395. Slippery, looking bright, covered six furlongs in 1.22. Love-lilt ran the; same distance in 1.21. Centrepoise and Gaiwind returned 1.34 for seven furlongs. The former always held the upper hand. Gaiwind is a lazy worker;; Solario, carrying much solid condition, did well to run six furlongs' irj 1.19. Lady Grev and the Defoe —Bonnif Vale filly ran three furlongs in 40s.
